About the Artist
John Lamos
John Lamos’ work has become synonymous with sustainability. His eco-friendly “cementitious” material (cement blended with various recycled
materials) is lighter and stronger than concrete and unlimited in its design application. Each piece is a unique organic texture and shape and
is individually hand-crafted.
Lightweight, yet rugged and strong, Lamos’ work is inspired by nature – both in color and texture. The
material flexes and its strength and durability makes it practical for outdoor use - handling everything
from a freeze to direct heat (up to 1250 degrees F).
A perennial award winner at the San Francisco Flower & Garden Show, John Lamos has applied his
proprietary design material to create unique planters, bowls and spheres, pedestals, columns, fire pots,
pavers and chargers. Working both commercially and on high-end residential projects, Lamos has
literally created hundreds of indoor and outdoor-lifestyle elements including imposing doors, magnificent
water features, rockscapes, deck materials, tiles, siding and furniture (couches, tables, chairs).
Proudly made in Northern California, his works cover the world – including casinos (Mandalay Bay,
Paris, Harrah’s, and Argosy), retail/commercial properties (Frye’s Electronic stores), hotels (including the Phoenix Hilton), and public spaces,
such as the San Francisco Zoo and a Korean theme park.
Easy to take care of – and, best of all, hose it off if it gets dirty or
dusty. If you’d refer to plant one of John’s sphere vs. using it as
a water bowl, it’s easy to drill the bowl for a drain hole. It
continues to integrate with your landscape, and depending on the
location, the color may soften over time.
